iCloud check by IMEI: iPhone Find My status
Before buying a used iPhone, check whether Find My is reported as ON or OFF. This report provides information; it does not remove an account or unlock a phone.

What is an iCloud or FMI check?
An iCloud check, also called an FMI check or Find My status check, requests the provider’s reported Find My ON/OFF status for an iPhone IMEI. It is not an iCloud login, a way to locate the phone or an account removal service.
Why can Find My still show an earlier status?
A completed report is a dated provider response, not a live connection to the phone. Refresh existing report retrieves that same order. Changing Find My on the phone does not rewrite an old report. Even a new report can depend on when the provider updates its records; no update interval is guaranteed.
What does the Find My result mean?
ON means the provider reports Find My enabled. OFF means it reports Find My disabled. Unknown is an unconfirmed result, not another way of saying OFF. Read the completed report and its check time.
Find My is different from a network lock
A Find My report does not establish whether another mobile network will work. For that question, see the iPhone lock status check. Read our Activation Lock versus SIM lock guide before choosing a report.
Does this prove that a phone is safe to buy?
No single database result proves ownership, condition or a safe purchase. An OFF result does not establish that a device is not blacklisted. Combine it with inspection and our used iPhone checklist.
Apple explains that Activation Lock is linked to Find My. Ask the seller to remove their account and let you complete setup before paying. Apple’s Activation Lock guidance.
Need carrier and additional device information?
The Carrier & Lock Status & FMI report is a separate option with IMEI and serial-number variants. Extra fields, including any Clean/Lost status, appear only if the provider supplies them. The basic Find My ON/OFF service does not promise those fields.
